Alyssa is presently working as the GEAR UP Success Coach at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC. As a former high school Spanish teacher, one of Alyssa’s biggest passions is connecting with her students, forming authentic relationships, and guiding them to success. She does this by providing genuine encouragement, highlighting their strengths, and using empathy to reach the hearts of her students.
Alyssa moved away from home – State College, Pennsylvania – to North Carolina in August of 2023 and quickly found a new sense of home at Sandhills Community College. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Moravian University (formerly Moravian College) with a double major in Spanish and Education and a minor in Fine Arts and was hired as a high school Spanish teacher at State College Area High School immediately upon college graduation, where she worked for four years until her move to NC. Knowing that she wanted to continue working with students at a more personal level, she was elated to get hired with SCC. Alyssa’s goal is to reach her students in meaningful ways, so they gain true senses of self-worth, purpose, and belonging in this world.
